Honda Servicing just got cheaper!

Welcome to my new blog, and also my recently launched web site www.ds-autoservices.co.uk

Hi, my name is Dennis Squires. I have over 25+ years experience in the motor trade. I am ATA Registered and have had Honda manufacturer training to diagnostic level.

I have recently set up my own business D.S. Auto Services to allow you the loyal Honda brand customer a choice when it comes to service and repair of your Honda. You can continue to get fleeced by the franchised main dealer network (who like to add a percentage over and above the Honda RRP on your parts), or bring your Honda to an experienced Honda enthusiast who will service and look after your car like I owned it. Our prices are very competitive and am very sure you will appreciate the friendly face of someone who cares about the Honda brand, and will not look for ways to take as much money from you as they can. Its about servicing your car properly, for the least amount of expense.

Please feel free to look at www.ds-autoservices.co.uk and phone us for an appointment or book online using the web site.

Please post any comments or queries on here, and I will be happy to help.

Thanks.

    Hi,

I would just like to say, congratulations Dennis. Its nice to have a Honda Specialist local when nearly all other car makes have had specialists around for so long. I wish you all the success.

Dennis, has looked after our families cars both when he worked at Honda and also privately. His work is top notch, and we cannot recommend Dennis enough to all who may read this.

We’ll be in touch soon to book the Accord in for service and M.O.T. soon.

    I’m looking at buying a V reg (2000) 2.2vti prelude to replace the K reg(92)
model I used to have and loved. The newer model has an auto box with trip tronic gears. what do I need to look out for when I test drive it? or am I better getting the manual or even holding out for another in the earlier shape? any info appreciated and a Honda specalist in west Yorkshire will be good since Wakefield closed but they charged a fortune anyway!

    Hi Craig,

I own the 92-96 Prelude VTEC and love it. I’ve kept it nearly 9 years, and still enjoy driving it.

The later Prelude’s are not as popular in the Honda community, mainly due to the looks. Not to everyones taste. However, with tasteful mods they can still stand out in a crowd. If you are concerned about the future value of it, I would avoid the tiptronic. Its slower and shifts lazily, and depreciates worse than normal due to no one wanting one. I would hold out for the manual Motegi version, or look at an imported Type-S with the 220bhp H22A motor.

Also, forgot to say. The 92-96 models are hard to find in good shape now. They are all affected by the rust on the rear wheel arches by now, even the well looked after ones. You might do well searching out an imported 92-96 Prelude VTEC, they seem to not be affected by the rust as much. Have a look on PreludeUK forum for cars for sale.

cheers for the advise, I already owned a 92 vtec which was a jap import, loved everything about it, had a gremlin in the electrics though which caused it to cut out if driving or on a hot day wouldn’t start at all! until sunset then would fire first time??? had to put off the road until I could fix it as Honda diagnostics kept saying “nothing wrong” and charging me a fortune for it. sad thing that some tool tried to steal it but only wrecked it trying. it’s only since looking for a replacement that I’ve discovered how good my first was ( black/White leather seats, digital clim control and zero rust anywhere!) Japanese climate like you say must be more forgiving to bodywork. I personally don’t care as much for the newer shape but I’m weighing condition against looks. i think hanging on will be the way to go though! trip-tronic sounded like a plus for the new shape but is sounding more like a negative the more I look into it. thanks

Craig, the problem with your old car is a common one. Its the main relay under the dash. They develop dry joints on 2 of the pins within the relay, which can be easily fixed by removing and applying new solder. When cold it starts fine, but as the cars interior warms up the dry joints expand and break connection. Its documented here with pics of the problem. Its the same main relay used in those early Honda’s. http://www.marklamond.co.uk/tech-honda/pgm-fi/main-relay/main-relay.htm

Here is my web site http://www.PreludeOnline.co.uk I have the Accord Type-R engine and LSD box fitted to mine, with a Honda Neptune RTP ecu.

i came accross the preludeonline.co.uk site on my phone. checked it this mornin at work im so happy to find a Honda Specialist.
wish i heard of you before i sold my civic.

were you selling a 2.2 vti engine keeping at lees autos because you were putting accord type r into a prelude?

    • Tim Says:

      Hi Ali,

Sort of… I’ve bought a 2nd JDM Prelude VTEC which has a mint bodyshell, which I am restoring to a full car. It was the H22A engine from this that I sold. I didn’t need the engine. I already have an Accord Type-R engine and box in my other Prelude. This is going in the restored Prelude when its finished.

I’ve helped Dennis of D.S. Auto Services set up his web site and blog on the internet thats all.

      Cheers
      Tim
